MIRROR'S CORNER

A MOTHER’S LOVE

She lifts up the house right
From its foundation and
Balances it on her back.
You will break your back
Anytime soon.” Father predicts.

She is gold but will rather
Let her children shine
Brighter than her.
You would age fast if you
Continue to polish so hard.”

Father predicts once more.
Still, she keeps on scrubbing
And never stops.

She is that mirror on the wall
That insists we are the fairest
Of all.

“You look terrible!”
Father exclaims.
Mother doesn’t care about her
Looks anymore.

But when the yellow gold
Grows dim and Mama’s strength is gone,
We would remember all
Her love and sacrifices.

We would say she is the
Fairest of all, not taking into consideration if she
Is covered with dirt on that wall.
