He lived saying it was okay
Being like everybody else!
He said:
The world is filled with people
Crazed with finding themselves.
Not everybody has to be original.
We just have to be whatever we can to succeed.
He lived imitating one successful person after another.
He tried to replicate the way they talked until
He finally lost his own original intonation.
“It’s okay,” he said.
“It’s okay to lose yourself in order to be like
The ones who are better off than you.”
He started feeling the need to imitate the opposite gender as well.
“Who said I can only be restricted to being a man?
I can be whoever and whatever I want to be!”….He concluded.
Until he couldn’t anymore.
Until he realized that he lived all his life
In the shadows of hundreds of people.
Ironically, he tried to find himself and well, he was right.
“Not everyone is meant to find themselves,”
But the funny thing was, he didn’t even find anybody else.
He had simply become tiny fragments of hundreds of people.
At the final analysis,
He succeeded to be a nobody,
And then died in his tiny little hut
On the outskirts of Liberia.
Let this resonate in your mind
Each time you try to lose your originality
For the sake of becoming someone else!
