MIRROR'S CORNER

MY HERO

Arise O’ compatriots
The call from all patriots
Ready to fight for our freedom
Like martyrs of the old kingdom
Peace we know no more
Serenity; a wish nothing more
Yet, our silence they crave
To push all down the demon’s cave
Avalanche from the three invincible
Crippled all like corrupt
constables
Punching through us a forever
insomnia
Telling all to be nowhere but near
We bleed through their tyranny
At some point, I trotted like my
granny
Wishes of survival flaunts our
lips
With hopes, we wait as our eyes
drips
Everyday auction-they bid on all
Through any means necessary, they
call
With ammunitions they became so
clinical
Also like Oyenusi-diabolical
Now we are at the mercy of seven
hefty men
With intentions to take and split
like herdsmen
Our males suffered from machetes
to the head
And our females maligned as they
fled
Yet, our silence they crave
Muted up like the grave
Peaceful was our hearts protest
Not until the men in black arrived
for a contest
Gbam! Gbam! Gbam! Gunshots in the
air
Standing attention was our body
and hairs
One of us has just been hit
All heart sunk deep into a dark
pit
At a crossroad, we all linger
Munching our protest garlic and
ginger
Sending get well soon messages to
our hero
His bravery showed us the men in
blacks-zero
Dedicated to Taiwo Abisoye
