RE-FUSING
Hit me hard
With stones of tears,
And soften me into a dough of emotions.
Heat me
With hot fetters in my hands,
And let me sweat sadness inside out.
Forget me
In the dusky nose of agonies,
And squeeze my face into a puzzle of grief.
Still, I’ll scream
The name of freedom.
I’ll grip so hard the groins of slavery.
I’ll raise my voice high,
High above the sun, above the Galaxy,
And pull every light of joy gently shining.
I.. am
Nigeria.
I refuse
to be
the slave of time.
