MIRROR'S CORNER

WEAR A DIFFERENT FACE

I’d wake up each day and put on a mask.
Because I do not want you to see
How broken I really am.

I’d wake up each day and
Put on clothes covering every part of my body.
Because I do not want
You to see the scars on my skin.
Scars from cuts I made on myself out of rage.

I’d wake up each day wearing a face cap,
Glasses or a hairdo that covers my eyes.
Because I do not want you
To see the pain behind those eyes.

I’d wake up each day, wearing my best face,
The one where I smile.
Because I do not want you
To see who I really am.

So, I’d wake up each day
Living another life.
Living a life of pretense.
Pretending to be someone else.
