WINNING ISN’T LEARNING

Scary how we all worry about being somebody,
About whether we win or lose.
Thousands have lost the ability to learn;
The ability to grow.

Now it is, if I lose, I am nobody,
But if I win, I am somebody. Scary.
Where is the place for learning?

We just want to win and win right now!
If we lose, then we are not good at it
And we should never try it again,
Else the label of a ‘nobody’ sticks.

Worrying about winning, about being counted worthy,
About having lots of trophies in your cabinet
Or lots of awards on your tables and walls
Have sadly made humans look away from growth,
Look away from learning.

Of what use is winning and learning nothing on the side?
Of what use is winning ‘at all costs’
After your principles have been destroyed
Because you want to become somebody?
Oh, winning is great! But what happens when you don’t win?

This week, instead of worrying about winning at all costs,
Worry about learning the most you can learn within a week.
The trophies will always come when you continue to learn and grow.
